Transformational – that is the word that comes to mind as I reflect on the last several months at Outreach.
Our programs transform the lives of the individuals and families we serve. Participants often come to us feeling hopeless, alone, and unsure of how they will make it through whatever circumstance they face. But because we welcome them with kindness, equip them with skills, bolster their confidence, and help them remove barriers to their success, their lives are transformed, and they exit our programs with a new vision for what’s possible. You, our dear partners, are part of that transformation. Thank you for helping our participants achieve their goals.

Lori Chaffers
President & CEO
President and CEO of Outreach, Lori Chaffers, holds a Master of Social Work from Temple University and has diverse experience in child welfare, nonprofit program development, and nonprofit management.
She has over 15 years of experience working in the child welfare system as a worker, supervisor, and administrator. Ms. Chaffers was the supervisor of an Independent Living Program, successfully growing it from one Independent Living Coordinator to a full unit of Independent Living Coordinators, expanding the number of youth served, and increasing the county agency’s ability to provide direct services and financial support through the needs-based budget process.
Ms. Chaffers also conducted a qualitative research analysis of an Independent Living Program, the results of which were published in Research on Social Work Practice (Nathans & Chaffers, 2022) and the Journal of Public Child Welfare (Nathans & Chaffers, 2022). Ms. Chaffers continues to oversee MSW students involved in Independent Living Programs as a field liaison for Marywood University.
Ms. Chaffers’ leadership ensures programmatic excellence and consistent quality in administration, fundraising, communications, and operations.
